eBooks and Audio Books

eBooks are digital representations of printed books. It is an electronic book that can be read on a computer, eBook readers and laptop screens. There are various formats of these books. A popular format is the PDF. All platforms can access and read PDF formatting.  This format is also great for those who prefer to print out the pages of the eBook to read. Other popular formats or eBooks include HTML which can be read on the computer screen or laptop. Another format is the Microsoft LIT which requires a free Microsoft reader installed on a laptop, computer or Pocket PC 2002 device. The Hiebook – KML – is the newest eBook reader available.

Audio books are sound recording books in cassette tape, CD or MP3 format. These books are books that are read aloud and recorded to be listened on some type of player. Audio books or talking books are books that are created for the use of visually impaired people. These books are produced n various formats and some require a special player used.

Most visually impaired persons can receive players for free and these enable them to play their books independently without the aid of a sighted person. Technology has revolutionized the technology of talking books since data can now be compressed to a single CD. Most talking book players also play music CDs.
